Pre-production
I proposed to Ryan that we made him a promotional video for his Bamdoodle box. I wanted to try my hand at video editing and filming so I thought this could be a good opportunity. We decided we needed to plan some kind of pre production plan of what we were going to do and what we wanted to achieve by filming the video.
The video would appear on the Bamdoodle website and also could be a send out for potential employers.
Pre-production plan:
Post-production
I used Premier pro to edit the film we recorded over 2 days. I began by having no idea what I was doing because of the inexperience with the software which was new to me. I asked my flatmate to help my prepare Ryan's project. We used the 30 frames per second setting on the camera. I used the 1280 x 720 resolution and 30 frames per second to match the camera settings. I left the default settings as apparently they were compatible with the camera I was using.
Josh my flatmate told me about a few setting s I should explore and also how to save a basic version of the project so that it was internet compatible.
To import clips filmed, you go to file import and select your clip. The clips will appear in the green box; next you use the crop feature on the purple box to select the film you want to put on your timeline. The timeline allows you to layer clips and audio in chronological order. The timeline is in the yellow box. Once you have layered and ordered your clips you can preview them in the blue box by pressing the play symbol.
Scenes and transitions
Ryan gave me the sequence each clip should be ordered from cutting the initial pieces of wood into squares to the lacquering finish. I used the story board I created in pre-production to help me order the scenes. I sorted the good clips from the bad clips and edit the best point of the good clips. I found
some great transition scene within bad clips. Example if there was a really blurred clip I could sometimes crop it so that it looked like a blurred effect.

In between this scene and the next I used a transition slide which consisted of a still shot of a machine ion Ryan's workshop, this lasted approximately 2 seconds.
